Heads!

So, I thought I would share some fun pictures of my apartment today. Alexz recently posted a bunch of pictures of her new apartment, and I was so happy to see the response she got when she posted the picture of all of the heads on her wall! I've been collecting as well. Also, these are all mine! haha. These are usually the first ones that I've made of certain styles, so I haven't actually put them in the store. My Jackalope is different from a lot of others, and in general, I usually revise patterns after making the first one. Plus, they're cute and I wanted to keep them. lol!

This is all in my dining room, where Seth and I spend most of our time. I've officially set up shop on my dining room table with all of my crafts, and there's a huge window in here, so it makes for nice lighting as well. :)

And of course the bear head is right next to all of them. haha. It looks so silly since the rest are all so tiny!

And this is my desk. It's a lot of stuff that Alexz has given me, and it's a lot of my cryptids as well.

And, that's really all for today. I've been working on a lot lately, but it's all for a swap, so I can't share it. I'm excited to finally share it all though! And today I'll be staining a lot of plaques. I have a Captain Kirk that's ready to be attached to the plaque to match the Spock. So, I"m off to do that!
Oh, and there's a couple new heads up in the shop!

I love mail!!

Isn't snail mail always fun? Especially when you know something's coming, it's so fun to just wait and anticipate what things look like in person. Whether it's a package or a letter, I love it. I think it's why I join so many swaps on Craftster.

Due to my current swap, I can't actually post anything that I've been working on, even though I desperately want to! It's a Tim Burton swap, and I've been having SO MUCH FUN crafting for it. And, Alexz is in the swap as well, so I've been able to email with her and get ideas and share what we've been working on. :)

Speaking of Alexz, 2 of the SIX packages I got today were from her. Have I mentioned before how amazing she is? Ok, I know I have, but seriously, A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. The first package I opened from her contained my Zombie Bigfoot that I was SOOOO excited about! And, just in case you didn't know, you can totally get your own, and you totally should. Check it out here at her shop!

And then, she mentioned that she was throwing in a fun extra, check it out. I put this on top of my desk along with my cryptid cabinet from her, and a few other things from her.

Isn't it adorable?!

And then, this is where just in case you didn't believe me that she's really awesome, check this out. I had mentioned on my blog that I was having a hard time trying to think of things for mine and Seth's anniversary. She emailed me on Facebook and said she would be glad to help if I could think of anything. So, this is what we came up with. I gave it to Seth today and he LOOOOOVES it so much. We'll be going out tonight or tomorrow to get a frame for it, because it definitely needs a nice one.

From left to right they are: Charlie Chan, Tom Waits, Elvis, Link from Zelda, Seth, Nosferatu, Nathanael West, Captain Kirk and Dario Argento. If you go to Google images and type in those names, you will learn that they all look exactly like the drawing. They're a lot of Seth's heroes. It's just so amazing, and I'm so glad that he loves it so much.

Another awesome package I got was from my good friend Jackie. Jackie and I share a very deep and passionate love of yarn. Unfortunately, I don't have the access to as many amazing sales as she does. However, this time she sent me a website that was having an amazing sale. So, in a wonderful shoebox today, I received FOUR SKEINS OF NORO!!!! This is my favorite yarn to date. I love everything about it. And of course my crappy phone picture doesn't do the colors justice AT ALL.

Another wonderful thing that came with the yarn is a shrug that Jackie knitted me. I love it and it fits PERFECTLY! I'll have to get better pictures of that sometime though.

And, another package contained a wonderful Bob Dylan shirt, and some antlers for my Jackalopes, and a few other things. The postman had to come up to my apartment TWICE!
So, next time you plan on sending someone an email, think about sending some snail mail instead. It's always nice to find something fun and other than bills in the mailbox. :)

I feel like such a slacker..

And I wish I could say how incredibly busy I've been, but I feel like I haven't accomplished much! haha.

First, I got some new heads up in the shop, including my creepiest zombie to date. I got these new eyes, and I really like them, but they are pretty creepy. ha.

And...this is what we've been consumed with lately. A little over a month ago, Seth got into a really bad car accident. He came out perfectly ok, but the car, our cute little Volkswagen Rabbit, was totaled. :(

We didn't get the call until the end of last week. We knew we would be car shopping shortly. I was dreading it. However, after going around some car dealerships on Friday when they were closed so we wouldn't have to deal with sleazy salesmen, we found a few to test drive, and headed out early on Saturday morning. However, Saturday we bought this:

It's a 2009 Scion xB. We are now in love with our new car. So glad that we had a somewhat easy transaction with getting a new car. :)
And now, I've made a few heads, and now I'm making quite a bit of things for my newest Tim Burton swap. And I'm sooooo excited about some of my projects!!

New Stuff!

I have successfully completed a few projects this morning!

I made 2 Jackalope's, and one is up in the shop now. I had some issues with the antlers, but I believe I've really got it this time. And I really like how they look!

And, this is something that I've had for a while. I finished the Cthulhu head, and I just haven't done anything with it. Last night I stained lots of plaques and antlers. I finally had one big enough for my big Cthulhu. He's up in the shop too!

Now, I'm working on a couple things for my Tim Burton swap. I'm pretty excited about it too. Plus, I need to work on my mounted Nessie and vamp the pattern a bit. :)

Almost time to relax a bit!

I've been busy, but I'm almost ready to settle down a little bit.
One of my big projects was making some s'mores for my Mom. I made her 2 (I think) before, and she wanted more, so I set off to make more. While watching a movie last night, I was able to finish all of them!
Aren't they adorable?!

And then, I've been working on some more things for Alexz. We can't stop swapping! lol. In exchange for some more amazing things for her, I'm making some more plaques for her. I'm working on some Jackalopes, and I just got the antlers in the mail today, which is awesome! Now I can put them together! One will be going to Alexz and the other will go into the store.

And here's a bad picture of the finished zombie Yeti's for her as well! One is a plaque, the other is the full version. The full version also comes with frozen brains!

And the other day, after being sick and tired of my safety eyes never being nicely organized, I decided to get a caddy of some sort that would hold all of my safety eyes with plenty of room. I'm so glad I did! It was in the scrapbook section of Michael's, but it works so perfectly! The top also opens up and has plenty of room to hold all of my hooks and my sketchbook and scissors.

And I got this in the mail today. It's for me to wear to my Bob Dylan concert!! It's even a Hohner harmonica, which is what Bob Dylan plays. :) I love it so much, and it hasn't come off of my neck since I got it. Did I mention that it even works?!

That's all for now. Time to work on some more projects!

Don't Think Twice, It's Alright.

There's been a lot going on!

In addition to the zombie yeti, I now have zombie yeti heads available in the store! I'm just absolutely in love with my mounted heads. I know I've raved about it before, but seriously, I've never enjoyed making something so much. The pattern I make is SO versatile too. I just love how quickly they work up too!

And, for my big news.
August 8th is my first anniversary. It's quite the accomplishment that we really might both make it to a year without killing each other! haha.
We had discussed a couple options here and there for things we might do, but we never really finalized anything, and because of our current car situation, we really decided just to maybe go out to dinner or something.
Well, on Friday Seth came home a bit early for his lunch hour. He handed me a piece of paper. It was a receipt for August 31st to see BOB DYLAN AND JOHN MELLENCAMP in Missoula...ok. First of all, I cried. I'm still in shock that I'm actually going to see such an amazing music icon as Bob Dylan. John Mellencamp is most definitely a WONDERFUL bonus. I've grown up with this music, and I was taught from an early age that you'll never come across a better songwriter (maybe John Lennon) as Bob Dylan. Second of all, hardly any musicians come to Montana! And, finally someone actually comes here, and it's Bob Dylan?!
Needless to say, Seth is by far the best husband I could ask for, to actually get me such an amazing gift.
In return, I'm at a loss for something to get him. lol. I decided that for now, I would make him something that I think he would like. This might be one of the cutest things EVER...not to toot my own horn or anything. lol!

Introducing, the Spock mounted head!

Ahh...Trying to relax...

I'm almost done with EVERYTHING that I need to do!! Here's what I've been doing.

First, was my request for 3 cats. They're modeled after her cats. One is all black with green eyes, one is a siamese with blue eyes, and the other is white with black spots and his tail is only 1/2 the size. I'm really happy with how they turned out. :)

Then, my next request was for a BRIGHT PINK monkey. It's for a lady's daughter. So, when I made it, I was a little disappointed by it's size, so I made an extra baby monkey to go with it. They're from 2 separate patterns. I have a book that I haven't used much, but I will now because I love how he turned out, and the pattern is very well written.

pssst....aren't my new backgrounds amazing?!

And so now, I'm off to make about 4 smores. Then, I have a project that I want to make my mom. After all of that, I will be able to start making more heads. I have SO MANY plaques now thanks to Alexz and my mom, and so now I have so much to do. I can't wait to start on all of the heads!
I've been busy, however, I haven't been too busy to work on something fun. He's actually going to be up in the shop today! Introducing, zombie yeti!

Been busy again!

I've told myself that all my commissions done this week. Here's what I've been working up. First of all, there's some new things up in the shop. I made some Cthulhu heads and a couple more zombies as well.

By request I made some cats for a woman. She wanted them to be made after her cats. One is all black, with green eyes.

Another cat is Siamese. I wasn't sure how this one was turning out, but I like it now!

And, I have one other cat to make. But, I've also been working on these. A lot of plaques!

And I wanted to show these because I didn't show a picture before. They hang right across from my front door. :)

I have to go now. So much to do!!

Tuesday, July 6, 2010

Check it out!

I added my mounted Bigfoot heads to my shop the other day! I love these little guys. I'm also working on some more zombies and Cthulhu's. Alexz sent me a whole bunch of plaques that I spent yesterday staining. My mom is sending me a bunch more! So, expect a bunch of new creatures up in the shop soon. :)

Also, there's a blog I follow called The Dainty Squid. If you haven't seen her blog, you should. In general, it's just a really fun blog, and right now she's hosting a giveaway! You should definitely go check it out. :)

Quick

Just a quick blog to show my exciting new find! I had mentioned the "Mystery Closet" before in a previous blog, the closet in the basement of our apartment building where people put stuff that they no longer want. While going down to do laundry today, this is what I found! It's a perpetual calendar! There's a little button on top where you click for it to flip to the next day. I love it so much! I definitely need to clean it up, but I had to just share it really quick. :)

Hope everyone had a great 4th!

I've been slacking...

And I wanted to extend my deepest apologies.
Things have been hectic lately.

First of all, my mounted heads are doing great in the shop! I made 2 Bigfoots today, and started on another zombie since the rest sold out! I'm so happy about that.
I've also decided to submit my work to Stuffed magazine! Seth is going to help me with taking pictures and stuff, but I'm so excited and nervous about it. I would be ECSTATIC if I actually made it in!
And, I've been working on some other little projects for people. I've told myself that they will be done this week to send out, and then I will work for quite sometime on just mounted heads. I would really like to get a bunch in there. And I think I'm going to figure something out for the Jackalope, something a little easier for the antlers. But, I definitely think I can do it, and try and get some of those into the store too!
And, I got this AMAZING package yet again from Alexz. She not only sent me a ton of plaques, but she sent me this AWESOME zombie yeti!! I love him so much!!

And, my Alexz collection of Cryptids!

And, because I've been playing around with my Mac a little bit. lol

I will hopefully have new work up next week, and I will be trying my hardest to get my Bigfoots into my shop this weekend. I hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th of July!
