Exhausted!!

I just posted all of the mounted heads in the shop!!

I've been working on them non-stop. First, Seth had to help me stain all of the plaques, and then, I had to nail all the brackets to the backs. There's a total of 8 in there all together: 2 zombies, 2 yeti's, 2 Cthulhu's, a medium Yeti and a medium Bigfoot. Whew! That just took me quite a long time.

I'm so glad those are up, I feel much more accomplished. And then, I've been working on a couple more for a small personal swap. Those are almost done, and then I can get onto a couple of my other commissioned pieces.

And, there's a really awesome blog that's having a giveaway! She just celebrated her year anniversary of her blog. You should check it out here!

That's all for today. Now, I get to relax for a little bit before doing more crocheting. :)

Even more packages!!

Today brought more wonderful surprises in the mail. I got my swap package for the woodland creature swap! It was really awesome. I'm so happy with everything. You can check out photos of what I made her here. She really loved everything, which was awesome to me. I always get worried about sending out swap packages, and once they reach their destination, I get nervous, and just really hope that they like everything.
In this case, I felt honored to even be her partner. In her survey, she specifically said that she didn't want ANYTHING that was crocheted. Then, she saw that I was in the swap as well, and actually asked the organizer if we could be partners, because she loved my creatures so much. So yes, I definitely felt honored. :)
This is the large I made her. This was my very first mount that I made too! I used April Draven's pattern for her dragon, and just made the head. It's mounted on a medium plaque that I stained myself as well.

I was so proud of how he turned out. I mentioned in the note that she can now tell people that she's a "dragon slayer' and she can prove it by the mount. :)
And now, everything I got in the swap!
I got a purse with an awesome squirrel embroidered on it! It's so cute!!

And a coin pouch with a cute little mirror that's decorated in polymer clay. I don't have a mirror for my purse, so this is just perfect!

These were the extras. She told me she really wanted to carve some stamps for me. I love that, because that's something that I can stamp onto a regular piece of paper and turn it into fun stationary. I really loved the idea. So, she hasn't been carving long, but I would have NEVER guessed. She must be one of those people that do everything perfectly the first time around. lol. I will be going to Michael's tomorrow morning to get ink and some fun paper to put these on, and I'm so excited to do that too! Look how ADORABLE these are!!

And I got a hook roll that matches the purse. It fits my hooks PERFECTLY, and even has little compartments for my scissors and stuff too. So cute!!

I was so lucky to have such an awesome partner in this swap. It was so much fun, and I got some AWESOME things from it.
So, now onto other fun things. In the basement of our apartment building, there's a couple apartments, and the laundry room. There is a door right across from the elevator, where people put things that they no longer want, but don't want to throw away. Kind of a thrift store, only free. lol. Every once in a while, there will be some good stuff there. We got our bookshelf from there, and a couple other things. So, yesterday we found these AWESOME mugs. It makes me want to see the rest of the set! The bottom of them says 1974, just in case anyone was wondering what decade they were from. lol!

And, I was really excited because I started setting some of my stuff up from Alexz. I put up al of the 4 cryptids right across from the front door, and they make me smile every time I walk into the house! lol. And then I put Bigfoot with the others, and the yeti. To be honest, Bigfoot is only posing there for the picture, because now he's right back on my lap, where he belongs.

As you can see, right above them is the zombiefied picture as well. :)
And something else I found really fun as well. My old background for my phone was quite boring. I was really tired of looking at it. So, I found out that I can actually email photos to my phone! So, I emailed a Cthulhu picture from Alexz, and made it my background. it now makes me so happy when I look at my phone!

So, that's all for today. I'm finishing up my last yeti head to mount, and then I'll be working on some commission pieces. :)

Work Work Work!!

Seth has been working overtime lately. it's actually be a lot of fun. We bring my laptop and movies and while he works, i crochet. We did that yesterday, where I completed 2 medium heads, one yeti and one bigfoot.
This morning Seth helped me stain all of the plaques I had left. I then nailed all the brackets to the back to hang them up. Then, we were off to work. I made SO MUCH while we were there! It's nice to have so much overtime since we will probably be looking for a new car soon. Plus, I did 2 Cthulhu heads, 2 zombies, and made about half of a yeti. I finished that up when we got home, then I went straight away to glueing them all. I'm so excited that I can start posting these in the store soon!!

This week will be spent with a lot of commission pieces that I'm working on.
And I'll be back tomorrow to post the fun stuff that I sent my swap partner in the Woodland Creature Swap!

It's like Christmas in June!

Or at least it was for me! This was a wonderful day. I'm so excited to share everything. But, just a warning, there are TONS of photos coming up.
This was a rough week for me and Seth. On Tuesday, Seth was driving on the highway, and wrecked the car. Seth is fine (THANK GOD!) but the car is not. Looks like we'll be car shopping soon. However, if that didn't happen, this would have been a wonderful week all around. Seth got great news about his job, and today was really like Christmas for us.
This is seriously what my living room looks like right now. lol

My in-laws recently went to Scotland for 2 weeks. They stopped in London on their way there. So, today we got their wonderful package of souvenirs!
I got this amazing mug from Dunoon, Scotland, where they used to live! It came with some amazing teas that I will be trying out shortly.

And I also got a wool blanket, that is really soft and I love the colors. It's made from Scottish wool!

And we got some candies, chocolate and shortbread too. One of the bars of chocolate is already gone. And it was AMAZING, as Cadbury usually is. :)

And Seth also got a wool cardigan that I'm going to have to get a picture of. It's an awesome cardigan!!
Next up, I did a little personal swap with a fellow Craftster. We just made it a scrap swap and just filled a small flat rate box of supplies and whatnot. I got my package today! There was yarn, a pouch, wiggle eyes, feathers, and all kinds of fun buttons. Oh, and a sample of some bath salts that I can't wait to try. :)

Now, for my package from Alexz. I'm not even kidding, I was so excited last night that I could barely sleep. I was praying that it would get here today. It's even more amazing than I could have imagined!!!
I love this guy so much!! He's so cuddly, and he's sitting on my lap right now as I'm typing. He's awesome!!

This is a little extra that she picked up for me at the store. It's a magnetic address book! It goes great in my 50's kitchen!!

This is a bank that I'm in love with. The only issue, is that I don't know how I would be able to get the money out. lol. But, I don't even care, because it's the cutest bank I've seen in my life.

A little yeti!! She said she made him out of a sweater she found at a thrift store! Seriously Alexz, you need to open your Etsy shop already. This is too cute!!

I was thinking the other day how much I love the Cthulhu tote bag she made me. It's what I carry my laptop in whenever I take it anywhere. I love the bag so much. And I was thinking, "If Alexz made another tote bag for our swap, I could use one for my laptop, and one for my purse!" Yet again, she's clearly read my mind(we seriously have so much in common that it's scary!). And, a Bigfoot tote bag is PERFECT!!! This is DEFINITELY my new purse!!

I got awesome framed Cryptids!!! I know EXACTLY where these are going!

This might be my favorite thing!! I can't wait for Seth to come home so he can see this! Last Christmas, we did this photo for our Christmas card:

So, Alexz actually took that photo and turned us into zombies!! Seriously, how utterly amazing is this?!

Some extra fabric that I LOOOOVE. I'll have to make a coin pouch or something out of it. It's adorable.

And then, I had asked her to make me some backgrounds for my creatures. I wanted something fun to use, and thought maybe she could draw something up. She said that none of them were working out, so she did something else for me. These are AWESOME. First of all, they're made from old game boards, which makes them foldable and even better for storage. And then, there were all kinds of little extras to set up scenes for them! I love them so much, and can't wait to post things in my store with them. They turned out so great! Oh, and the fact that they're made from game boards, also makes them like personal little photo boxes. I think the light and everything works great for them!

WOW. That was exhausting posting all of those pictures! lol!
Thank you to everyone to make this an awesome day for me! I really needed it. :)

Even more!

Here's a couple more heads!
The zombie, turns out, might actually be the easiest head I've done so far. The Nessie I'm not 100% satisfied with, but it's a good start. Also, I glued it on the plaque wrong, so if I hang it, it's going to be sideways. lol. But, this will give you an idea at least.

Last night I spent about an hour online looking for cheap, wholesale, plaques. If anyone knows of any, please let me know! I think the cheapest I found was .57 each, and I'm only paying .59 for the small ones at Michael's, so shipping wouldn't even it out for me. So, I'm going to go get some more plaques today because, well, I don't have a whole lot left right now!
And I'm anxiously awaiting my packages from Alexz, so I will probably have a VERY long post tomorrow with everything. There's 2 boxes! Anyone else as excited as I am to see what awesome creations I get this time?!

100th Post!!

Wow. I can't believe this is my 100th post! That's pretty exciting.
I was actually thinking a while ago that I would do something fun and exciting for my 100th post, possibly a giveaway or something. But, as it turns out, rough times have fallen over here, and so I won't be doing that. :(

But, I can bring you some more of my AWESOME new creations! I'm really addicted. I love these things. Like, REALLY love them. Seth asked if we're going to have an entire wall of wall mounts now. We will. lol.

I've had so much fun making these. You can most definitely count on me sitting and make TONS of little heads to mount now. These will be in my shop very soon. I have some things to work on for some swaps, but as soon as I'm done, I will be doing nothing but mounts. :)
And, tomorrow I will be able to post things from the swap package I sent out. She received today, so I will post those tomorrow.

Newest Love!

I found my newest favorite thing. I can't say how I got the idea, because it involves a swap package. However, I decided to expand some crafting skills.

I thought, what would be something new and fun to make with all the Cryptids I make? So, I got this idea. Cryptid head wall mounts! I spent today testing out different stains, finding a couple I like, and then staining a bunch of little plaques. Then I had to screw wall brackets to them. I've only done 2 so far, but you can definitely count on more very soon!

I've only done a Cthulhu and a Yeti so far, but I will be working on a Bigfoot, zombie and Nessie. :)
And you can definitely count on these being in my store shortly.
