Newest Love!

I found my newest favorite thing. I can't say how I got the idea, because it involves a swap package. However, I decided to expand some crafting skills.

I thought, what would be something new and fun to make with all the Cryptids I make? So, I got this idea. Cryptid head wall mounts! I spent today testing out different stains, finding a couple I like, and then staining a bunch of little plaques. Then I had to screw wall brackets to them. I've only done 2 so far, but you can definitely count on more very soon!

I've only done a Cthulhu and a Yeti so far, but I will be working on a Bigfoot, zombie and Nessie. :)
And you can definitely count on these being in my store shortly.

Happy Father's Day!

Just a small tribute to my favorite man in the world: my Dad.

My Dad is definitely the goofiest man I know.

No matter how goofy, he's definitely been the best Father I could ever ask for. There was never a school event he wasn't at, even though he was always working 2 jobs.

And all those important things in life, he was there for every one of them. Even calling him up one day, shortly after he started a new job, and told him I would be getting married in 3 weeks in Vegas, he still somehow worked the time to get off work to walk his daughter down the aisle.

Happy Father's Day, Dad!! I hope you spend it doing something relaxing. Have a few beers for me. :)

Thrift Shopping excursion and a couple projects.

So, I've been doing a lot on my swap package. Because of this, I can't post anything. Booooo!!!! But, I should be sending that off this week, so then I can start posting pictures shortly afterward.

So, today Seth worked some overtime. Afterwards, just to stay out and enjoy this GORGEOUS weather, we decided to hit some thrift stores. At the first one, we had no luck and left empty handed. Next stop was our Goodwill. My first find there was a cooler.

We recently broke our cooler, which was huge. This is a small one, perfect to bring some beer to a BBQ over the summer!

I found both of these glasses as well. The Star Wars one is from Burger King and is from 1983. The Care Bears one is from Pizza Hut, also 1983. They're not pint glasses, like we normally buy, but they were too good to pass up. Just as I found these, Seth walked up to me with these books. Perfect pair. :)

And then we found this DVD, which would just be IMPOSSIBLE to pass up!

Wow, this is going to be a long post today. lol.
Next section I hit was the craft section, where I found a half full bag of the weighted stuffing beads I use for my creatures!

And then, was when we found this. This, is our AWESOME find of the day. Now, just to explain, we live in an apartment. We're not quite sure what we will be doing with this. I'm thinking perhaps on top of our kitchen cabinets. I don't know, but either way, I had to have it. For $6, who doesn't need a CORN MAILBOX?!

The next thrift store wasn't all that wonderful. We got a spoon rest from Wheat Montana, which I've been needing for a while. All in all, it was a wonderful thrift day!
And then, I got this in the mail today. This was reviewed in last months Crochet Today magazine, and after watching the video, I ordered one. I'm really excited to use it, and I'll let everyone know how it works later on. It's for stuffing all of my creatures and getting into all the nooks and crannies!

And, my newest projects. I made a skinny scarf from some of the amazing yarn that Jackie sent me. It was fully intended to be a shawl when I started it out, but it was SUPER long, so now it's a skinny scarf. It's either going to be a Christmas present or maybe into the store.

I liked the stitch so much, that I decided to use the same pattern with my alpaca yarn. It's a really chunky shawl. I LOOOOVE how this turned out. I don't know that I'll be able to part with this one. It's so soft too!

And now, here is the rest of my day. Seth has found that he can play Commander Keen on the computer, and he's been addicted since last night. lol. I'm ok with it though, because it will allow me to finish up my swap package and start packaging everything up!

Just a few things.

I thought I would just share a couple things I've been working on.

I'm currently working on a swap as well, so I can't really post EVERYTHING I've been working on lately. But, here's a few things. First is my newest hat. I actually really love this hat, and have rationalized that I can keep it because it was my first one, and I messed up on a few things. lol. It's a more lacy hat, and the yarn is a bit silky, so it'll be nice in all kinds of weather. I will definitely be making more of these, and I'll let you know when I get some up in the shop.

Excuse the camera phone pictures, I've just been a bit lazy about taking good pictures lately. :(

And this one was done by request from my Mom. She saw these in the latest Crochet Today magazine (of which she knows I have a subscription to. lol) and immediately requested a few. So, I've made 2 so far, and I'm working on making a roasting marshmallow next. I think these guys are so adorable, and they were super easy too.

Isn't Seth a wonderful model? lol

And now, I'm working a lot on my swap crafts. This includes quite a few projects for my friend Jackie in return for some AMAZING yarn she sent me. I will also be getting pictures of that yarn up this week as well.
And, I pre-ordered this book yesterday on Amazon. It was reviewed in Crochet Today, and I fell in love, so I had to buy it. lol. It comes out July 13th though, so I have to wait almost a month for it :(

So sad that it's been so long!

So, I've been away for a while. I swear, I will try and post all kinds of stuff this week!
I was recently on a vacation. I only got 1 project done on the road. It's a hat for a bit warmer weather. It's more lacey looking, so that it can be worn other places. I understand that not everyone lives in Montana. lol.

I've been an Etsy addict lately as well, so I thought I would share some of my fun purchases!
First up is my necklace. I believe I told the story about this a while back. There's a store on Etsy, and Seth had purchased me a necklace from them for Valentine's Day. Actually, it just wasn't my style at all. It was really big, and just not me. So, after browsing around the store, I couldn't find anything else I wanted. The necklace has been sitting in a box in my desk. So, a couple weeks ago I found something I wanted! I emailed them, assuming that I wouldn't be able to return it so late. However, they had AMAZING communication, and they exchanged it quickly and easily! Now, I have an amazing necklace that I love. I even wore it to a BBQ last night and got tons of compliments. :)

The store this is from is Ghost Love Jewelry.

A while back, I found this store that sold these awesome little coffee sleeves. There were patterns and all kinds of fun stuff. They had a sale going on that ended that day at midnight, so I was quickly picking out my purchase. All shipping is free, which is also really awesome. It also came with a free button! And, the best part of this coffee sleeve, is that it just rolls up, and has a hook for your keychain!! Isn't that awesome?!

The shop is called Cup Kozy. I would also recommend checking out their Happy Planet Cup Kozy! $1 of the sales go to help planting trees!

The next one isn't exactly an Etsy purchase, just something I had to share. It's from BigFootSurplus. It's an amazing website with all Bigfoot stuff! Who can't love that?! So, I ordered a T-shirt and a keychain of a scaled down Bigfoot casting. I love them both. :)

And yes, that is a little Lego Indiana Jones that's hiding behind the Bigfoot. :)

And so now, I'm starting projects. I've started a project for my Woodland Creature swap, which I can't post pictures of, and I'll be starting on a few other projects. My mom has requested a couple things as well, so I'll definitely be working on those this week.
Also, since I haven't been all that crafty lately, I baked yesterday. I made a peach crunch cake. If anyone wants the recipe, let me know! It's delicious and can be made with ANY pie filling too! I've never been much of a chef, so when something comes out good, I'm always impressed with myself. lol. And so here it is, in all it's glory, next to my peach tea pot. :)

And, here are my sales finds lately. While on our vacation, we stopped by a Hobby Lobby. The closest Hobby Lobby to us is 3 hours away, so find them around is always an exciting thing for me. :)
However, I did find this amazing sale! Alpaca yarn, all for $1.67 a skein! I was going to keep all 4, but due to some recent circumstances (and my friend Jackie's amazing sale finds) I think i will be sending a couple of these off to New Jersey soon. I will be sad to see them go, but still plan something exciting for the other 2. :)

And this might be my favorite thing of the week. About a year ago, Seth and I found this AMAZING 1950's style table at the thrift store. It was in beautiful condition, and with all 4 chairs, also in amazing condition, it was only $50. It was a must have. So, we've been trying to do some things that are very 50's inspired for our table. I had mentioned while we were at a diner one day, that we needed a little silver napkin holder, like they have in diners. So, yesterday, while wandering around Salvation Army, I pick this up, and I'm immediately AMAZED that we've been talking about this lately, and I actually found one!! Now, we just need to find little napkins for it!

And so now, it's time for me to go finish some work on my swap package. I sent out the Cthulhu to Alexz yesterday. It was sad to see him go, which just means now I have to make one for myself. lol. I also sent off our Father's Day gifts to mine and Seth's dad's. I'm really excited about them receiving this week. :)
And, I'm also thinking about changing the look of my blog. I think I'll try that out today if I get bored. :)

Coraline!!

I'm finally finished with my Coraline doll!!

For the pattern, I used the Free Spirit Doll pattern. I modified the head a little bit though. For the hair, I basically made a wig. I made a circle, and then pulled each and every little piece of hair through there. It felt like it took FOREVER!!
Her jacket comes off completely, so if I want, I can make her more clothes. Her boots also come off, as does her skirt. For her skirt, to make it removable, I crocheted around a hair tie so that it's stretchy. :)

I still need a dragonfly for her hair, but I think I can find that somewhere, perhaps a little charm or something. All in all, I'm really happy with her, even though she looks super creepy. :)

Look at how tiny those little stitches are! I used thread for her boots and her jacket, mostly just because I don't have yellow yarn. :)

And now, I'm off to do all my other stuff today. On the agenda: Laundry, grocery store, Bath and Body Works and maybe some house cleaning. :)

Trying out doing things for me. :)

Today was a VERY busy day for me. This morning consisted of lots of errands, and doing stuff around the apartment. I even sat down for a few moments to crochet.

I also posted new stuff in the store! I'm trying out all the medium creatures. So far, I got a Bigfoot and a dino in today, and there's still a yeti available. I also got some more colors today, so I can make even more colorful dinosaurs. :)

And seriously, these little guys are SOOOO soft! I'm keeping one of the medium Bigfoots for myself as well. :)
Also, I'm trying to work on a project for me. It's turning out to be MUCH MORE of a project than planned. Since I'm still bummed that I didn't get into the Coraline swap, I decided to start making my own Coraline. I'm using a pattern that I've used before, just changing up the colors to look like the Other Coraline. However, when I got done with the pattern, I started getting scared because I realized that there's a lot of hair I need to do. So, now I'm making a wig for her. I have a feeling that it's going to take me forever!!
And of course, after this I have to actually make the rest of her clothes. Geez....

And so, because this is taking me a lot longer than planned, feel free to email me to get my address in case you want to buy me this.I really have no problem at all if you want to buy it for me. :)
And, in other news, I decided to sign up for another Craftster swap yesterday, called The Woodland Creature swap. I'm super excited about it!!
